For their latest shop in Dempsey Hill, Singapore, multi-label children clothing retailer Kids 21 briefed us to design an experience based retail space, incorporating activities and discovery for young customers. Located in a former camp built by the British army in the 1860s, our design respects the colonial architecture and is inspired by the leafy tropical setting. Different retail and activity zones are defined by the structural bays of the building. Within these, the merchandise is organised around an array of playhouses that we inserted. Cloud shaped mirrors, flora inspired hanging rails, wallpaper depicting water and tree bark are just some of the motifs that ground the shop in its natural environment.
